Lawsuit Puts NEL Pipeline Construction At Risk

BMI View: Germany's NEL gas pipeline could face delays following the announcement that a lawsuit has been filed against the project. The pipeline is designed to come onstream in line with the second phase of the Nord Stream pipeline in 2012, and will transport Russian gas westwards across Germany to European markets. Significant delays to the NEL project could therefore also delay start-up of Nord Stream's second phase.
