Fraccing Tremor Report Likely To Delay Cuadrilla's Appraisal Programme

A report commissioned by Cuadrilla Resources has found that horizontal fracturing was the probable cause of earth tremors in north west England. Although the findings are unlikely to affect long-term regulation, they are likely to delay the company's appraisal drilling programme as officials mull the environmental implications of shale gas extraction. Full clarity on a regulatory framework for horizontal fracturing in the UK may not emerge until a US government report is published next year.
