The subsea Nord Stream pipeline system was officially inaugurated on November 8 2011 by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in a ceremony in the German Baltic Sea coast village of Lubmin - where the pipeline emerges from the sea.
