Maersk Oil's Kwanza basin discovery is good news for the company and good news for successful bidders in Angola's latest licensing round. Though far from fully appraised, the block 23 prospect is the first to hint at Angola's potentially huge deepwater subsalt potential, which the country is relying on to boost reserves and push production higher towards the latter part of the decade.
