Elgin Leak Subsides As Total Prepares For Top Kill

The Elgin crisis shows signs of abating as gas volumes leaking from the platform fall to a quarter of the level recorded when the leak began on March 27 2012. Operator Total is taking no chances and has organised both a top kill procedure and relief well contingencies. Total will be hoping that the situation can be brought to as swift a conclusion as possible with Q212 results already likely to come in below expectation because of the crisis.
