Full Picture Of Rosneft's Arctic Deals Starts To Emerge

BMI View: We are gradually seeing the full picture of Rosneft's gains from its strategic cooperation agreement with Statoil in May 2012 for the exploration of the Russian Arctic. The latest agreements Rosneft has signed with Statoil gives the Russian national oil company access to Statoil's future assets in the Barents Sea and provides Rosneft with both capital and technical expertise for its exploratory activities in the Arctic and in its tight oil fields. This pattern is also evident in similar deals with Eni and ExxonMobil as further details of those agreements gradually emerge.
