Drilling Ban Rethink Is Too Little
June 2012 | Industry NewsBMI View: Italy has introduced a new decree that would ease its 2010 ban on offshore drilling, subject to ratification from the country's parliament. This change would please existing offshore players such as MOG, whose operations were brought to a standstill by the ban. However, it does not go far enough to promote exploration that could meaningfully boost Italy's upstream potential in the long run.
