Troubled Neighbour Threatens Offshore Oil

BMI View: The signing of production contracts for several Kenyan offshore blocks confirms our positive outlook for the country's nascent oil industry following onshore discoveries earlier this year. Kenya's offshore industry does, however, face risks from a maritime border dispute with Somalia. This is compounded by the threat of piracy in the region and instability also originating on its northern border with Somalia.
