BMI View: Bulgaria has awarded Total rights to prospect the offshore Khan Asparuh block in the Black Sea, over ExxonMobil and Melrose Resources. It will be the French major's first foray into an emerging gas play. Exploratory success will help the company increase its sources of gas supply in the Central and Emerging Europe (CEE), to put it in a good stead to tap into the region's growing gas market.
