Sasol Shines in Qatar with GTL Debut

Sasol, the South African synthetic oil group, is set to make headlines as it launches the world's first ever commercial gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in the Gulf emirate of Qatar, with a start date of June 6 pinpointed. The US$1bn Project Oryx will pump 34,000 barrels per day (b/d) of ultra-clean diesel produced from natural gas in partnership with national oil firm Qatar Petroleum in the first phase, with plans to expand capacity to 100,000b/d with a potential Oryx 2.
