Spain Looks to Algeria for Gas, Again
May 2006 | Company News AlertAlgeria has landed a major deal with Endesa, Spain's biggest utility, to supply it with 960mn cubic metres (mcm) of gas per year for the next 20 years, highlighting the North African country's important position as a gas supplier to southern Europe. The US$5bn deal will see the gas piped underwater through the 200km Medgaz pipeline, the second connecting Algeria and Spain.
