Czech Republic Looks To Diversify Energy Beyond Russia

The end of February saw Russian President Vladimir Putin embark on a less publicised but just as significant tour as his trip to Beijing, visiting Hungary and the Czech Republic for energy discussions. The President's time in the Czech Republic brought scant comfort to the heavily energy dependent country. While inviting the country to use the North European Gas Pipeline when it is completed towards the end of this decade, Putin also sent out a thinly veiled warning to European countries that are attempting to diversify their sources of energy away from the Eurasian giant.
