Storm Continues To Swirl Around BTC
May 2006 | Project NewsUS oil major ExxonMobil has bought the first cargo from the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, transporting the commodity in a 300,000 tonnes deadweight tanker from the Turkish port of Ceyhan. However, a row has erupted over the source of this oil. Pressure group Baku-Ceyhan Campaign is accusing the pipeline's operator, UK oil major BP, of filling the tanker with oil pumped through another pipeline to keep the project on schedule.
