Polish refinery operator PKN Orlen has snatched Mazeikiu Nafta from the jaws of both the Russian and Lithuanian governments, but now has a substantial job on its hands to turn the asset's evident potential into consistent profits. The Lithuanian government was exasperated by Russian group Yukos' failure to meet Mazeikiu's supply demands and will therefore be looking towards PKN to rejuvenate the asset with its experience in modern refinery operations.
