Hoping To Hit The Regional Big Time
July 2006 | Company SpotlightWhile negotiating with Russian gas monopoly Gazprom over a possible extension of the Blue Stream gas pipeline, Hungarian energy group MOL would be well aware of the positive implications such a structure will have for both its domestic market and the firm itself. If it secures such a plentiful supply of energy for the Hungarian market, MOL could then turn its full attention to its wider regional strategy, where it is locked in increasingly fraught competition with Poland's PKN Orlen and Austria's OMV. The group is the smaller of the three and is pursuing further acquisitions to maintain the momentum
