CNC Shuns Australia in Favour of Indonesia
March 2006 | Company News AlertWith a dismissive 'The Gorgon thing is over,' Chinese oil behemoth CNC announced that it no longer plans to buy natural gas from Australia's Gorgon gas project and will instead look to neighbouring Indonesia as an alternative source. If the deal goes through, it would represent a departure from a regional trend that has seen more and more gas importers looking to Australia over Indonesia as a leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, as the latter cuts gas exports in favour of supplying the domestic market.
