PTT Dominates Thai Energy
May 2006 | Company SpotlightPTT is the nearest thing to an integrated oil company in the Thai energy sector, having upstream exposure through its controlling stake in PTTEP, as well as stakes in all key refineries and direct ownership of the former Shell facility at Rayong. Adding the Thai gas distribution system and petrochemicals investments into the picture makes PTT a pretty close proxy for the entire Thai oil and gas industry. Closer co-operation between PTT, Thai Oil and Bangchak Petroleum bodes well for cost reductions and greater operating efficiency. PTT is also expanding geographically and establishing a stronger role in regional gas infrastructure
