Another Lease Of Life for East China Talks
May 2006 | Legal NewsJapan and China look set to resume yet again talks over gas reserves in the disputed East China Sea, with a top Japanese officials saying that the two sides were setting up a meeting at the foreign ministerial level following a meeting between the vice-foreign ministers of the two countries. The latest round of talks had fumbled after Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi made what the Chinese see as a provocative visit to a shrine honouring Japanese war dead, including 14 war criminals from World War II.
