Thailand Looks For Sources Of Supply
July 2006 | Contract NewsReports emerging from Iran indicate that Thailand's national energy group PTT has reached an agreement with Iran's Pars LNG for the export of an annual 3mn tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from 2011. The state-controlled group is negotiating with a number of Middle Eastern countries, notably Oman and Iran, and also Asian nations, including Malaysia and Indonesia, for the import of natural gas as Thai demand is expected to substantially increase. Most LNG deals on the table are long-term supply deals, which are expected to start from 2010 when the country's first LNG terminal comes online.
