Pipeline Blocked By Pricing Disagreement

Leaders from Iran, India and Pakistan are set to meet this August to resolve a number of issues concerning the US$8bn Iran/India gas pipeline and other supply deals between the three countries. Relations have soured of late as each government brings their conflicting demands to the table, while international energy prices continue to add a troublesome backdrop to negotiations. Most recently, Iranian Foreign Minister Manoochehr Motaki was quoted as saying that changing national and international circumstances are complicating the issue, leading media sources to speculate that the deal has reached an impasse.
