Krk Talks Continue Without Material Progress

A spokesman for Austrian oil and gas group OMV has reiterated the company's determination to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on the island of Krk, offshore Croatia. Earlier this year OMV, German utility E.ON and Croatia's national oil firm INA held talks to develop a regional gas 'hub' that would transfer LNG up to South eastern and Central European markets. However, there have been no concrete agreements as yet and the only details to emerge from all three companies was an indication of costs, which are estimated between EUR700mn (US$885.2mn) to EUR1bn (US$1.26bn), and a planned start-up date
