Camisea Fuels Peruvian Fire
July 2006 | Project NewsPeru's Camisea gas field development has driven a 50% increase in the country's output even though it is only operating at a third of total capacity. The full extent of Camisea's potential and its importance to Peru's energy situation is therefore clear. The project boosted output by 60% in June to meet growing demand for use in electricity generation, offsetting the country's import requirement and avoiding upward pressure on domestic energy prices.
