UK Begins To Realign Away From The North Sea
August 2006 | Industry NewsThe UK is threatened with another difficult winter as the country's gas transportation network continues to realign itself towards a future with ever-decreasing North Sea supplies, according to comments made by Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks. UK-based producers and suppliers are investing heavily in infrastructure that will bring in gas from alternative sources to the North Sea. Norway, Russia and Algeria are emerging as the essential suppliers in the country's future energy mix. Nevertheless, this winter could see further concerns over gas supplies as consumers wait for a number of projects to come onstream.
