Legal Problems Continue For BP

UK oil major BP is facing more legal problems in its US operations, this time over possible market manipulation of the global crude oil market in 2003 and 2004. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is conducting the investigation, just as it did back in 2003 over similar allegations. That probe saw no charges brought against BP, but the same year the firm paid US$2.5mn to the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) in settlement of further trading allegations.
