New Prospects In Angolan Block 17
October 2006 | Industry NewsState-controlled Sonangol and France's Total E&P Angola have reported further potential in the prolific Block 17 offshore Cabinda. Alongside investment elsewhere - including May's ultra-deep water discovery by Sonangol and UK major BP's in block 31 - there are growing upside risks to BMI's medium term Angola oil output forecasts. That said, even our current estimates forecast production doubling between 2004 and 2008, as increasing transparency and strong global prices drive investment.
