Iraqi Plans To Revive Oil Infrastructure
September 2006 | Industry NewsIraq's oil minister has announced that Baghdad is considering a new crude oil pipeline for exports from the northern Kirkuk field through Turkey. Flows from the Kirkuk area, where around 40% of Iraq's oil is produced, have been badly disrupted by insurgent attacks and sabotage of the current pipeline since the US-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003. In July this year Iraq had to cancel a Kirkuk crude sale tender as it had failed to pump enough oil through the northern pipeline. The oil minister Hussain al-Shahristani has said that Iraq will not be able to set a routine
