September 2006 | Industry NewsTalks between European Union (EU) President Javier Solana and Iranian negotiator Ali Larijani appear to have taken a turn for the better, with hints of compromise on both side. Larijani reportedly offered a two-month uranium enrichment freeze, which may be a long way from the US' insistence on long-term suspension, but represents progress from the previous intransigence seen from the Middle Eastern state. Talks are set to continue, but time is quickly running out as the US and its allies push the United Nations (UN) for punitive trade and financial sanctions against the Islamic state.
