September 2006 | Company SpotlightDominating the domestic oil and gas industry, and faced with few threats from IOC competition, INA's real challenge is to improve efficiency and develop the country's limited resource base. Its equity-based partnership with Hungary's MOL provides the basis for cost reductions and efficiency gains over the short to medium term, with a full merger of the two companies seeming inevitable over the longer term - albeit with some Croatian state influence over the outcome. Growth in profitability can be expected from domestic gas volumes, international upstream diversification and the impact of MOL's management practices on INA's asset base.
