Oman Plans US$4bn Investment In Gas Production

Oman is planning to invest US$4bn in the next five years to enhance its natural gas output capacity. The country's economy minister announced the spending plans as part of the Gulf state's growth policy and said that increased output levels are needed to power the country's industrial development. Gas has become the chief focus of Oman's economic diversification strategy. Intensive exploration has more than doubled proven reserves in recent years, with a further 50bn cubic metres (bcm) or more likely to be added once the gas beneath the Dakhiliya field is accounted for.
