South Korea Nearly Doubles LNG Imports From Qatar

Amid increasing competition in Asia Pacific for sources of energy supply, South Korea is to increase its imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar by 43%. Starting in January, gas supplier Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) will buy an additional 2.1mn metric tonnes per year (tpa) of LNG (in addition to the 4.92mn tpa it currently imports) from Ras Laffan LNG in a twenty year agreement.
