Namibian Purchase Indicates Differing Strategies
November 2006 | Company News AlertAustralian natural resources group BHP Billiton has divested a 15% interest in various Namibian exploration blocks to Japanese group Mitsui, marginally reducing the firm's exposure to the country. While the deal is hardly ground-breaking, and will not make a tremendous amount of difference to Namibia's fledgling energy industry, it does give a good indication of BHP and Mitsui's differing strategies in Africa.
