India Will Bid 'Aggressively' For Overseas Oil And Gas Blocks
January 2007 | Industry NewsIndia is set to bid aggressively for new overseas oil and gas acreage in an effort to increase its supply of hydrocarbons to meet growing energy demand. According to M. S. Srinivasan, India's Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary, the growing gap between supply and demand needs to be addressed by a combination of measures, which will include expanding domestic output, diversifying into alternative energy sources such as coal bed methane (CBM) and acquiring overseas
