Energy Security Dominates Agenda
February 2007 | Industry NewsThe European Commission's (EC) hopes of pushing its proposals for the unbundling of the domestic power sector appears unlikely to proceed, following the failure of a ministerial-level meeting in mid-February. Essentially, an alliance between older member states such as France and Germany - who wish to protect their national champions - and eastern European states who are concerned at their vulnerability to Russian dominance of their energy sector, looks set to result in a compromise.
