Russia Dominates Uzbek Energy Sector
February 2007 | Industry NewsUzbekistan is making progress with its energy sector development plans, with a series of new deals signed. Rather than this presenting opportunities in the country for international oil companies (IOCs), however, it is Russia and its state-controlled energy companies which are reaping the benefits. As the Kremlin continues with its policy of enhancing political and economic ties with its former satellite, we expect more deals to be struck giving Russian companies priority access to Uzbekistan's substantial gas
