Peruvian LNG Given Boost By SK

South Korea's largest refiner SK Corporation is to invest KRW555.2bn (US$592mn) in Peru's liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, raising its stake in the venture to 30%. Located at Pampa Melchorita, 170km south of Lima, Peru's US$3.8bn LNG project is the largest industrial venture in the country. The plant will enable Peru more fully to exploit the growing volumes from the giant Camisea natural gas field, which is currently operating at a third of total capacity due to lack of domestic demand and absence of export infrastructure.
