Sri Lankan Offshore Round For August

Sri Lanka will launch an offshore exploration licensing round in August, offering three blocks for competitive bidding in the Mannar basin, off the island's north-west coast. Following years of delays, we expect strong interest in the forthcoming round both from Indian explorers and other international oil companies (IOCs). This is despite the ongoing security risks in Sri Lanka, where the secessionist Tamil Tiger movement has recently attacked oil storage facilities from the air.
