Japan Forges Links With Middle Eastern Producers
May 2007 | Industry NewsJapan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been conducting a tour of Middle Eastern oil and gas producing countries in an attempt to forge closer ties and to secure long-term energy supply agreements to meet growing Japanese demand. As Japan becomes increasingly concerned over its supply security in the face of growing competition from other major Asian consumers, notably China, India and South Korea, the country has been ratcheting up diplomatic efforts to secure business ties with Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.
