Looking For Technology Transfer

Algeria is planning a new licensing round in late-2007 according to an interview with Chakib Khelil in the Financial Times. Within the round, applicants will be considered according to their ability to develop state-owned Sonatrach 's technical expertise. This is a further sign of Sonatrach's international ambitions and, more broadly, of efforts of national oil companies (NOCs) to compete more directly with international oil companies (IOCs), especially Western majors.
