Rovigo LNG Terminal Receives Approval

Italy's Industry Minister Pierluigi Barsani has approved the planned construction of a re-gasification plant in Rovigo, off Italy's northern Adriatic coast. While liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports to Italy currently only represent a small portion of Italy's total gas imports, as the country has just one LNG receiving terminal, BMI forecasts LNG imports to rise to some 12bn cubic metres (bcm) by 2011.
