Wintershall Focuses On North Sea

Wintershall , the wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF, has announced plans to invest EUR300mn (US$220mn) in the North Sea by 2010 as it moves beyond its traditional production base in the Dutch North Sea. The move comes as there are further delays to its Achimgaz joint venture (JV) with Gazprom. And, while the two news items are unrelated, they highlight the company's determination to boost medium-term supply to Western Europe.
