Exxon Puts Freeze On Venezuelan Assets

US major ExxonMobil has won court rulings that prohibit Petróleos de Venezuela (PdVSA) from selling US$12bn worth of assets such as refineries and from withdrawing more than US$300mn of cash from a US bank account. The impact on PdVSA is likely to be severe and the news prompted a sell-off of Venezuelan debt.
