Qatar Backing For Malaysian Refinery Project
February 2008 | Project NewsA Qatar-backed oil and gas investment group known as Gulf Petroleum has agreed to build a MYR15bn (US$4.7bn) oil refinery and petrochemicals complex in Malaysia, according to reports in the New Straits Times newspaper. The country currently has 515,000 barrels per day (b/d) of refining capacity, which is barely sufficient to meet domestic oil products demand.
