Caracas Accuses Bridgetown Of Infringing Maritime Border
July 2008 | Industry NewsBarbados' offshore bidding round has been criticised by the Venezuelan government, which has accused the Caribbean nation of violating the maritime border between the countries by auctioning blocks within Venezuelan waters. Barbados launched a licensing round for 26 offshore oil and gas blocks covering 70,000sq km in 2007. The submission deadline for bids is in September, with winners scheduled to be announced on November 20 2008.
