Iraq To Resume Oil Exploration After 20 Year Hiatus
August 2008 | Industry NewsIraq will resume oil exploration by mid-August, ending a two-decade pause, according to an oil ministry spokesperson. Oil exploration in Iraq, which holds the third largest proven oil reserves in the world at 115bn barrels (bbl), has been restricted for 20 years by crippling UN sanctions, lack of government investment and violence.
