Bakassi Handover To Add Further Volatility?
August 2008 | Industry NewsNigeria is set to hand over sovereignty of the oil-rich Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon on August 14 2008. Despite security concerns and a court order to the delay the transfer, Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua insists that Nigeria will honour its international commitments. The Bakassi Peninsula in the Gulf of Guinea is though to hold significant offshore oilfields.
