BG To Target Santos?

Britain's BG Group could launch a bid for Australian oil and gas producer Santos, according to a report in Reuters. Fresh from conceding defeat in its protracted attempt at a hostile takeover of Origin Energy, which instead agreed a US$8bn coal bed methane (CBM) gas venture with US major ConocoPhillips, BG may turn its attentions to Adelaide-based Santos as it seeks to add bolster its Australian gas reserves to feed an liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
