Gov't Seizes On Opportunity To Phase Out Fuel Subsidies

BMI View: The phasing out of fuel subsidies will have a beneficial effect on Vietnam's fiscal and trade accounts, but is also evidence of the continued economic reform agenda advocated by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. We believe Vietnam's example will be followed by other countries across Asia as governments seek to decrease their dependence on imported oil and achieve more sustainable growth.
