Caracas And Tokyo Deepen Energy Co-operation
April 2009 | Contract NewsVenezuelan and Japanese heads of state Hugo Chávez and Taro Aso signed 12 energy-related agreements in Tokyo on April 6 that will result in greater Japanese involvement in Latin America's second largest oil industry after Mexico. Chávez's Asian tour is the second high-level Venezuelan delegation to visit the region in the last two weeks, suggesting high hopes placed by Caracas on investment commitments from Asia's resource-hungry national oil companies (NOCs).
