UTS Fends Off Hostile Total Bid

French major Total has abandoned its hostile takeover bid for Canadian oil sands player UTS Energy. The Paris-based major announced on April 28 that it had allowed its final offer for UTS to expire after an insufficient number of UTS shareholders accepted Total's revised bid.
