ExxonMobil Goes Deep In Offshore Sirte Basin Search

US major ExxonMobil has said it will start drilling the first of three deepwater exploration wells offshore Libya before the end of June. Exxon has been seeking to increase its activities in Libya, which at end-2008 held oil reserves of 43.7bn barrels (bbl) according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, June 2009, the largest proven oil reserve base in Africa.
